DEF Quick Facts - Temperature Requirements

Q:  Is Diesel Exhaust Fluid affected by temperature?

A:  Yes, Diesel Exhaust Fluid will begin to crystallize at 12°F.  It can also lose its potency if stored for prolonged periods over 86°F.  If DEF begins to lose its potency, the system will simply dose the DEF at a higher rate than 2-4% to compensate for the decreased potency level.  Brenntag can assist you in developing storage solutions to ensure these conditions are avoided.
